Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important official stated the attack made him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
