Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
